What goes into off-season boat support?

A lot of the work that keeps a boat ready to use happens off the water. Moving the boat in and out of storage, hauling it between marinas, finding a secure place to keep it through the New England winter, and prepping it for transport are all jobs that take real equipment and the right insurance. Atlantic Boat Repair handles both ends of that: short- and long-distance hauling, and outdoor winter storage under shrink wrap.

We haul boats from your driveway to our shop, from one marina to another, and out to surrounding states for purchases and sales. The trailer, the tow vehicle, the permits, and the route planning are all part of the service. For boats over the standard road width or height, we handle oversize-load permits, escort vehicles where required, and the route surveys that get the boat through under low bridges and around tight turns.

For storage, we keep boats outdoors in our yard for the winter. Every boat goes on stands and gets shrink-wrapped with vents so snow slides off and moisture can get out. We winterize the engine, fuel system, and water systems before the wrap goes on, and we can do repairs, tune-ups, and electronics work while the boat sits.

Drop-off and pickup are part of the service. We coordinate winterization with hauling and storage so the boat goes through one workflow: haul out, winterize, store, retrieve in spring, commission, launch. That sequence saves several handoffs between different vendors and the cost gaps that come with each one.

What customers say about our boat services & storage work

I’ve had a boat for many years and had gone to various shops for winterizing and repairs. Some took forever to complete the work and others ignored (more than once) my request to look at an electronics issue I was having. Then I found Atlantic! Ryan has been absolutely great for the past several years I’ve been going there. I don’t think there is anything they don’t do! I’ve had new electronics, winterizing, engine maintenance, even trailer repair. They do detailing too. Always a fair price and they are extremely responsive. I’ve referred 3 other friends there who have all been satisfied customers.

Couldn’t imagine having our boat serviced and stored over the winter anywhere else!! We have been customers of Atlantic Boat and repair of Plymouth for years. From them helping us purchase a new boat, to adding small comforts to the boat and this past winter, with a very large job the guys there can do it all! Ron and Ryan are very knowledgeable and very trustworthy!

My father bought a boat from Ron in 1986. That boat is still in operation today, thanks to Ron, Ryan, and the crew at Atlantic Boat. I picked up the boat and dropped it three weeks ago. I get a call from Ryan every spring asking me when I want to pick up. I drop it off in the fall, point out what I know needs to be fixed, they recommend what else could be fixed, and within days I get pictures of all of the work. Last week, I realized that the pump in the livewell was dead. Rather than have me haul it out for that, Ryan made a house call and did it for me on the water. If you work with them, they take care of you. So instead of missing a weekend of bass fishing, I can load the livewell tomorrow morning and get into some fish.

FAQ

Boat Services & Storage questions, answered

Common questions about our boat services & storage services.

How far do you haul boats?

Locally around Plymouth and Cape Cod Bay daily. Regionally throughout New England on regular schedule. Long-distance to other states for purchase, sale, and seasonal moves on a quoted-trip basis. Anything beyond the East Coast we will refer to a long-haul specialist.

What storage options do you offer?

Outdoor winter storage in our yard. Every boat goes on stands and gets shrink-wrapped with vents. We do not have indoor or heated storage. We winterize the boat before it is wrapped, and we can do repairs, tune-ups, and electronics work while it sits.

Can I access my boat during storage?

Getting into a wrapped boat means cutting the wrap and sealing it back up afterward, so it is extra work. If you expect to need something out of the boat over the winter, tell us before we wrap it.

Do you handle launching after storage?

Yes. Spring commissioning, in-water shakedown, and launch are part of the off-season workflow. We can hold the boat in storage right up to launch day and put it in the water for you.

Are you insured for hauling?

Yes. We carry commercial cargo insurance for the value of the boats we transport. We are happy to share the coverage limits and certificate with you before the haul.
