Hauling a boat over the road is more complicated than towing a small trailer to the local launch. The combined width of a boat on a trailer is often wider than the trailer alone, the height can clear or block bridges depending on the route, the weight needs the right tow vehicle, and crossing state lines often requires permits. Atlantic Boat Repair runs a hauling service that handles all of that so you do not end up turning around mid-trip with a load you cannot legally move.

We haul boats locally around Plymouth and Cape Cod Bay, regionally throughout New England, and long-distance for purchases, sales, and seasonal moves. For boats within standard road dimensions (under 8.5 feet wide on the trailer) the move is straightforward: schedule, hook up, deliver. For wider boats, we handle oversize-load permits state by state, route surveys for bridges and turns, escort vehicles where required, and time-of-day restrictions on certain highways.

The most common hauling jobs are seasonal moves between marina and storage, deliveries of newly purchased boats from the dealer or seller to the buyer, and inbound hauls to our shop for service work. We also do recovery hauls for boats that broke down on the water or got damaged in storage. Each one has its own trailer requirements: a sound, hard-running hull is fine on a roller trailer, a sensitive or damaged hull may need a flatbed with proper support.

Insurance and licensing matter, especially for the bigger jobs. We carry commercial cargo insurance for the value of the boats we move, and our drivers carry the endorsements required for the larger trailers and overweight loads. We will tell you up front what is and is not covered if something goes wrong in transit, and we will not take on a haul that we are not properly equipped or insured to perform.
