The biggest mistake people make with boat audio is buying automotive or home audio components and installing them on a boat. Installation quality matters a lot in a marine audio system. Connections that are not properly heat-shrunk and sealed corrode within a season. Amplifiers that are not mounted with airflow corrode and overheat. We run wire in conduit or loom wherever it is exposed to spray, use tinned marine wire throughout, and seal every connection. A system that is properly installed should last the life of the boat with basic maintenance.
